Prison Ministry Staff

Dr. Dale Underwood became Director of this ministry on January 1, 2022 with Buck remaining to assist him. Dale’s journey over the last 35 years in youth/education/pulpit ministries, singing across the country with the Sounds of Glory, as an education administrator, and working with adjudicated populations during the last decade brought him to KCPM. Dale is also a Licensed Child Care Administrator with additional training in trauma-informed care. He looks forward to being part of this marvelous staff and volunteers. His goal? To reach as many as possible with the knowledge of Jesus.

Buck Griffith assists Dale in directing this ministry under the oversight of the elders, Kings Crossing Church of Christ. He first became involved in this unique ministry in 1971 and his passion has increased over the past 50 years. A native of Corpus Christi, he and his wife (Janet), came to serve Windsor Park/Kings Crossing in June 1977. The prison work grew steadily through the years and in 2002 – after 25 years as the church’s preaching minister – Buck turned to serving in this mission field for the rest of his life.

Karlene Underwood (Dale’s wife) joins the KCPM team in the fall of 2021. She has walked with Dale throughout their ministry journey that now brings them to Corpus Christi and Kings Crossing. She has a rich background in fiscal business, legal, and clerical areas which will help our day-to-day office procedures. In addition, Karlene has a background as a music educator. With her voice and spirit, a strong singing aspect will assist our Reconciled & Renewed and other in-prison events.

Glenda Watson wears many hats. She teaches ladies in the Nueces County Jail. She coordinates and schedules Reconciled & Renewed weekend seminars in prisons. Glenda maintains a steady flow of the 30,000 students in our Bible Correspondence School. She supervises the volunteer efforts of individuals performing Community Service work. A former childcare provider, Glenda has compassion for families and especially children. The “Little Angels” program is under her care and watchful eye.

Pat Watson (also known as “Glenda’s husband”) has training and over 12 years of fulltime experience as an alcohol/drug counselor. Pat is a critical influence in our CASA program. He makes himself available by appointment to work with persons one-on-one. He is also an integral part of our Reconciled & Renewed team, an approved volunteer and Instructor of NLB courses. He facilitates CASA’s Relapse Prevention group on Friday evenings.

Raquel Rivera was introduced to KCPM in 2003. She states: “By the grace of God and the love of Pat & Glenda Watson and Buck, I have overcome much in my life to be able to help others.” Through her experience with CASA, Raquel helps others on the path to sobriety. Along the way, she has developed legal, clerical, and I.T. skills that are invaluable to this ministry. Raquel is a TDCJ-approved volunteer, bi-lingual, and helpful with in-prison events.
