Kings Crossing Prison Ministries believes strongly in the value of supplying free Bible studies through the mail. This is why we have a “student body” numbering over 30,000 with participation from every state in the USA! Supplying correspondence lessons is time consuming and expensive. Paper, printing, and ink is costly.  Postage only goes one way: UP! Still, we believe this effort is more than worth it!

Why?

  • Bible correspondence courses by mail go to places we cannot physically go.
  • Bible studies by mail provide an organized and systematic method of teaching so students can move from “milk” to “meat.”
  • We have personally witnessed prisoners gaining enormous Bible knowledge when their only contact with us has been by mail.
  • We maintain that a person (all by himself or herself) can read the Bible, believe it, obey it, and be saved.
  • We may like to have a “teacher” present, but it is not essential. The Gospel is still God’s power to save (Romans 1:16).

What is especially unique about the courses we provide?

As early as 1974, we recognized a lack of Bible studies available that could meet three pressing needs of the incarcerated: (1) Content on a reading level of 5-6 grade, (2) Content that directly addresses the physical condition (incarceration) of the student and, (3) Content that communicates the Gospel sooner rather than later. The courses we use accomplish these needs.

All of these courses have been authored by experienced prison ministers. Some have included assistance from Christian prisoners. We send them in the following order:

  1. “There IS a Better Way” (5 lessons to bring the lost to Christ)
  2. “Prisoners of Hope” (5 lessons to lead the lost to Christ)
  3. “Pathway to a Better Life” (10 lessons for students needing more background)
  4. “Study of Baptism” (7 lessons for prisoners interested in being baptized)
  5. “Living the Better Way” (6 lessons for new Christian prisoners)
  6. “Freedom Within” (7 lessons to mature in Christ)
  7. “Firmly Rooted” (13 lessons on fundamentals of the Christian faith)
  8. “The Beatitudes” (9 lessons for daily Christian living)
  9. “Freedom Steps” (12 lessons linking the 12 Steps and the Bible in recovery)

We also have numerous tracts that we like to send with Bible lessons that are related to the subject matter of the courses.

What other special correspondence courses do we provide?

We use the NewLife Behavior curriculum extensively (www.nlbm.org). The reason we use NLB courses is because they address the need to change certain negative behavior into positive. We have purchased licenses to use all fourteen courses. The following are highly effective and well-received by students in prison because they now see and admit the need to change their conduct:

  • "A Sense of Self"
  • “A Sense of Family”
  • “Parenting Matters”
  • “True Freedom”
  • “Christian Marriage Skills”
  • “The Christian Woman”
  • “Attitudes & Behaviors”
  • Christians Against Substance Abuse”
  • “The FamilyNet Series”
  • “The Seeker Bible Study Series”
  • “Prisoners of Christ”
  • “Managing My Anger”
  • Christians Against Sex Addiction”
  • "Managing My Dollar"
  • Children’s Edition of “A Sense of Self” (best used with children, Ages 5-12)
