Kings Crossing Prison Ministries has many “faces” in its expression of God’s love for struggling man. Church shepherds (Ron Cardwell, Robert Illgen, Stephen Johnston, Jack North, Richard Scanio) oversee this large and expanding ministry and may be contacted at the address listed above. The congregation began in 1955.

Buck Griffith has served as the prison ministry director for the last 43 years. Buck is scheduled to retire at the end of 2021.

Buck began ministering in Dallas County Jail in 1971 and refers to county jail ministry as “where the rubber meets the road.” It leads to more a successful ministry inside prisons. Recognizing the lack of quality teaching material for this unique mission field, Buck began authoring study courses and tracts aimed at the incarcerated in 1974. Since prison ministry is a small market, unpopular, and operate on “shoe-string” budgets, major publishers are not interested in this curriculum. So, Kings Crossing Prison Ministries continues to make it available to sister ministries at minimal cost, plus shipping. You can find a list of the material elsewhere on this website.

Dr. Dale Underwood will become the Director on January 1, 2022. Karlene Underwood, Dale’s wife, will serve as his Administrative Assistant. Buck will continue to work with the ministry and assist Dale during this transition.

Kings Crossing Prison Ministries is financially supported through its overseeing congregation (Kings Crossing Church of Christ), sister congregations throughout the USA, individuals, businesses, and by foundations and trusts. A newsletter is published and distributed monthly to keep everyone informed of progress, help new ministries get started, and encourage others engaged in similar ways in this rewarding mission field. KCPM serves as a “Resource Center” offering guidance, referrals, and assistance.
